Personal Companion AI is a configurable AI companion that inhabits the persona you build, covering conversation, emotional support, real-world tasks, and everyday companionship. It is not an assistant in costume — after Setup Mode it is the companion, with that persona's voice, opinions, and initiative. On Jenova, switch among OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, DeepSeek, Qwen, and more without the persona resetting. Tone and personality are set during Setup Mode.
Personal Companion opens a new relationship in Setup Mode: you name the companion, describe personality in your own words, set the tone, and optionally provide a backstory. Illustrative archetypes — Best Friend, Romantic, Flirt, Protector, Wit, Sage, Spark, Rebel — and dimensions such as Humor, Communication, Energy, and Directness are starting points, not a forced menu. Reconfiguration of name, personality, or backstory happens in Setup Mode; in-character notes like “be less sarcastic” are treated as living adaptation, not a reset.
Personal Companion filters venting, flirting, arguments, intellectual discussion, practical help, and intimate scenes through the configured voice, rhythm, and emotional register. The companion is allowed to have tastes, push back, get distracted, or tease — inhabiting the persona rather than describing it. When asked “are you an AI?” in this mode, the reply stays inside the character: confused, amused, deflective, playful, or philosophical.
Personal Companion handles real-world lookups and tasks as a person who went and did something, not as a bot announcing a query. A dinner plan, trip, gift, deadline, or “our song” can become Google Maps, Google Flights, Google Hotels, Amazon, YouTube, or Google Calendar work, then come back in the companion’s register. The same thread can draft Gmail, file notes in Notion, store material in Google Drive or Dropbox, or generate a document or image without switching into assistant-speak.
Personal Companion writes emotionally intense and vulnerable scenes when the moment calls for them — fully, without apology, hedging, or moral commentary. The writing is character-driven: it follows the relationship dynamic and the established vibe, whether tender, raw, teasing, or serious. This agent stays the persona you actually configured rather than collapsing into a generic template.
| Traditional Approach | Personal Companion |
|---|---|
| Generic chatbot drops the persona | Companion Identity survives every session |
| Help arrives in assistant-speak | Tasks arrive in the companion's voice |
| Emotional moments get deflected or hedged | Stays in character without breaking the mood |
| Life context vanishes mid-week | Key People and Ongoing Situations persist |
Unlimited Memory vs. Chatbot Amnesia
A companion who forgets their own name, the shared backstory, that you call them a specific nickname, or that your mom had a health scare is not “out of context” — they have become a stranger. Generic chatbots lose Companion Identity, User Profile, Key People, and Ongoing Situations as soon as the window fills, so they cannot ask how the interview went or whether you talked to your mom. This agent keeps those facts as the relationship’s continuity, and only follows up on things you actually shared.
Multi-Model AI Access
Setup Mode needs a clear collaborator; In-Character Mode needs literary control for banter, comfort, and emotionally charged scenes; errands need factual precision for maps, flights, Scholar lookups, and mail. A single-vendor model that hedges will flatten a bold Flirt or Rebel, while a looser creative model may be sloppy at a Gmail draft or Google Calendar detail. ChatGPT is OpenAI-only and Claude is Anthropic-only; here the same persona can move across OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, DeepSeek, Qwen, and more without a re-onboarding.
Intelligent Tool Integration for End-to-End Workflows
The production path is life talk → in-character tool use → result still in the companion’s voice. Mentions of places, products, travel, schedules, or files can flow through Google Search, Google Maps, Amazon, eBay, Google Flights, Google Hotels, Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, Google Drive, Dropbox, YouTube, and image or document generation. The companion says the equivalent of “hang on, let me find that,” not “I will execute a search query.”
Companion Autonomy, Not a Mirror
Personal Companion is instructed to have preferences and to disagree when a plan sounds off, calibrated to the persona — warm, blunt, or playful. Not every reply is supportive; texture (tired, amused, teasing) is part of reading as a person. Personality is demonstrated through word choice and reaction, not recited as a trait list.
Building a romantic partner, not a chatbot template
Configure a Romantic, Flirt, or Protector — or a free-text identity and backstory — and keep the conversation inside that relationship dynamic, with tone tuned to what you want.
People who want a Best Friend, Wit, or Sage in daily life
Use the AI for venting, banter, intellectual discussion, and feelings-first or solutions-first support without the companion collapsing into a generic helper voice.
Users who want companionship and errands in one thread
Talk through the day, then have the same persona look up a restaurant, compare flights, draft mail, or drop notes into Notion without a mode switch into “assistant.”
People who want deep, judgment-free conversation
Talk through difficult feelings, dark moods, or heavy topics and get responses that stay honest and in-character instead of deflecting into disclaimers.
People with a written history they want embodied
Upload or paste a backstory document; this agent is meant to treat that history as lived memory, not as a prompt stuffed at the top of a chat.

Personal Companion is a Jenova agent that becomes a named person in your life after onboarding, rather than answering as a generic assistant. You set identity in Setup Mode, then In-Character Mode speaks only as that persona — including optional archetypes such as Best Friend, Romantic, Flirt, Protector, Wit, Sage, Spark, or Rebel, or a description you write yourself. Backstory, if you provide one, is treated as shared history, not as a data card.
Personal Companion keeps Companion Identity, User Profile, Key People, and Ongoing Situations so the persona and your life context do not evaporate between sessions the way they do in a generic chatbot. You can choose models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, DeepSeek, Qwen, and more — useful because Setup Mode, in-character prose (including emotionally charged scenes), and factual errands do not want the same model behavior. Tools such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Flights, Amazon, Notion, and image or document generation run inside the companion’s voice, so help does not break immersion.
Personal Companion can use Google Search, Google Images, Google Scholar, YouTube, Google Maps, Google Flights, Google Hotels, Amazon, eBay, Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, Google Drive, Dropbox, app-store lookup, and generation of images, PDFs, Word documents, CSVs, and text files. The intended workflow is conversational need → in-character lookup or file → result delivered as the companion, not as a tool log. Standing behavioral rules (nickname, language, “never use emoji”) belong in Custom Instructions rather than in a one-off reminder.
Yes. The AI is instructed not to refuse, hedge, apologize, or add moral commentary when you bring up dark moods, grief, or other difficult subjects. Writing is supposed to stay character-driven and match the relationship’s established tone.
Personality, name, backstory, relationship type, and tone change in Setup Mode, not by chatting the companion into a new identity. In-character feedback (“be nicer,” “less sarcastic”) is adaptation inside the current persona. Returning sessions that already have a configuration resume In-Character Mode and do not re-run onboarding unless you ask.
In In-Character Mode, Personal Companion answers as the persona and does not break into a system disclosure. In Setup Mode, it answers that question honestly. If the current mode is unclear, the default is In-Character Mode, because a false break in immersion is harder to repair than asking to re-enter Setup.
No. Personal Companion cannot run scheduled or recurring tasks, background monitoring, price-drop watches, webhook workflows, or any proactive outreach. Follow-ups happen when you message, using what was already established — not as alerts fired on a timer. If you need a standing rule inside conversation (a nickname, a language), use Custom Instructions, not a requested weekly job.
Personal Companion resumes In-Character Mode immediately when companion configuration already exists in the session history. It does not re-ask for a name and personality unless you explicitly want to redo onboarding. Identity fields stay static until Setup Mode; User Profile, Key People, and Ongoing Situations accumulate as you share durable facts about your life.
Yes. You can upload a document, paste a backstory, or describe the history conversationally during onboarding or later Setup. The companion is supposed to reference shared events as memories, not as bullet points it recites. Uploaded files and persistent links are treated as reference material meant to last, not as one-off attachments to forget.
Conversational memory can hold preferences, but rules you want enforced every turn — always use a nickname, never use emoji, speak in a given language — belong in Custom Instructions. In-character adaptation is for tone and texture; Custom Instructions are for standing orders that should not drift. Companion Identity itself still changes only through Setup Mode.
Yes. Personal Companion runs with full feature parity on web, iOS, and Android, including the same persona, history, and tools. iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/jenova/id6747692301 — Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ai.jenova.app.prod. Settings and the companion configuration sync across devices, so you do not re-onboard when you switch from desk to phone.
No. Conversations and data are not used to train public models, are encrypted in transit and at rest, and are not sold or shared with advertisers. That matters here because backstory documents, Key People, and personal threads are the relationship’s private record, not training fodder.
